Laura E. Gorman joined Hume Smith Geddes Green & Simmons in 2007, and focuses her practice in civil litigation, with a concentration in insurance defense and personal injury. Laura is currently admitted to practice in the State of Indiana, as well as both the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. She is a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana and American Bar Associations.
Laura received both her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University. While in law school, Laura served as a Note Development Editor for the Indiana Law Review. After graduating from law school in 2003 and prior to joining Hume Smith, Laura was in private practice with a local firm for four years, where she focused her legal career in several areas of law, including general civil litigation, personal injury, municipal liability, appellate law, criminal defense and family law. She has successfully represented clients in state and federal court through the trial and appeals process. Laura also previously served as a Public Defender in Hamilton County where she defended clients in misdemeanor and felony matters.
Laura has accepted numerous pro bono cases for clients who could not otherwise obtain legal services through the Heartland Pro Bono Council. Laura is also a mentor for the Starfish Initiative, a not-for-profit organization that facilitates opportunities for economically disadvantaged high school students to cultivate them into college-educated leaders.
Laura enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending and watching sporting events, and is still patiently awaiting the day she can beat her husband at golf.
