Mr. Ellingwood joined Hume Smith Geddes Green & Simons, LLP in 2007.  Sam is currently licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Indiana.  He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association. Sam is also a member of the Defense Research Institute.

As an undergraduate, Mr. Ellingwood earned a Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, in communication studies, from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. During his undergraduate studies, Sam worked as a computer networking technician and web designer for an Indianapolis information technology firm. This position exposed him to many different areas of emerging technology, and solidified his desire to incorporate his passion for technology into his future career as a lawyer.

Sam graduated from Indiana University School of Law Indianapolis in May 2005. During all three years of law school, he worked as a law clerk at a mid-sized Indianapolis law firm.  This clerkship required him to apply his background in networking and programming to a variety of cases involving Y2K' software compliance litigation.

Prior to joining Hume Smith, Sam was in private general practice, for two years, allowing him to gain experience in many areas of the law, including corporate litigation, employment law, real estate and commercial transactions, small business formation, and estate planning.  Sam continued to keep technology at the forefront of his legal career by accepting a fellowship with the Technology in the Workplace subcommittee of the Labor and Employment section of the American Bar Association. As a part of this program, Sam participated in conferences and lectures discussing the intersection of technology and the law.

When not practicing law, Sam enjoys spending time with his family, wife Christy, actively participating at their church, Christ the King, reading, camping, cooking, and running.
